Anoushka Akel
Anoushka Akel (b. 1977, Tāmaki Makaurau) lives and works in Tāmaki Makaurau. She received her Master of Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts in 2010. Her work in painting and print draws on art history, philosophy, biology, and social science to explore how pressure and plasticity shape human experience.

Akel artist in residence at Künstlerhäuser Worpswede, Bremen, Germany in 2013 and in 2018 she was the recipient of the C Art Trust Award. In 2024 Akel will take up a residency at Parehuia Colin McCahon House.
